A court has heard how a reckless motorist caused the death of a local grandfather and his eight year old grandson. Charles Kennedy, a Stansted Airport taxi driver was giving evidence to St Edmundsbury Crown Court following the conviction of Sidney Borat from Winstanley for causing death by dangerous driving. Mr Kennedy stated that he was driving his taxi back to Stansted Airport along the A.1307 on August 17th when he was passed at very high speed by a green Audi car, allegedly driven by Borat. 87 year old Herbert Fudge was returning home to Saffron Walden with his grandson Peter following a junior football match when his Hillman car was struck from behind by the Audi. Mr Kennedy estimated that the Audi was being driven at speeds close to 100mph and was seen to be weaving across the carriageway. He commented that in 25 years working as a Stansted Airport taxi driver he had never witnessed such a horrific accident. The case continues next week.
